” The Terminal List: Season 2 ” Review

Can Season 2 of this Chris Pratt led thriller be as good as the previous entries?

Based on Jack Carr’s novel “True Believer”, The Terminal List enters it’s second season, four years after the first entry and two years after the spin-off “The Terminal List: Dark Wolf”.

Chris Pratt reprises his role as former Navy SEAL James Reece, on the run and trying to hide from the world after the events of the first season, and the shocking revelation at the end of that season. Still plagued by the tumour in his head, and seeing visions of his best friend Ben, Reece takes matters into his hands and decides to re-enter civilization with the help of his friend Raife’s family in Africa.

What follows is a whirlwind adventure full of intrigue, action, politics and deception at every turn. But, is it as good as the first season?

I wish I could just give a yes or no answer, but I’m afraid it’s not that simple. I don’t think it surpasses the first season, which was top tier, and it’s premise while relatively simple was quite complicated in it’s internal politics. This time around, the focus is on much larger political motivations that don’t involve a kill list of any real description, certainly not for Reece. That’s not to say that it’s boring. In fact, this season is very engaging, it’s exceptionally well crafted and easy to follow for the most part. The action scenes are superb and certainly match the previous two entries. While Chris Pratt is excellent in the role of Reece, the standout performances here are with Tom Hooper as Raife Hastings and Dar Salim as Mo Farooq.

I will advise caution when watching this. There is one episode where a CIA operative is being tortured, and the manner in which he is dispatched is somewhat brutal. For all the male viewers out there, you’ve been warned!

In short, this season is as good as the first season, but never really tries to reach above it’s predecessors. Maybe that’s because it’s futile trying to do so seeing as season one was so good! So you can rest easy knowing that what you are about to watch is brilliantly filmed and scripted, the acting is on point, and introduces so many different new layers to Reece’s story. The action is visceral and the camera work is tight.

I have no problem or hesitation in recommending this to any action fan, or to anyone who loves thrillers with an engaging storyline.

I give ‘The Terminal List: Season 2’…
